Meme Day
I was tagged (ages ago) by Lee17 at The Sun is Killing Me, andThe rules are as follows:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on the blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
6 Random things about me:
1. I have yet to successfully grow a passionvine. So much for that invasive monstervine!
2. I have a short attention span, and my garden could benefit from better focus. For instance, I could weed more than once a month.
3. I feel like I'm the only nerd asking, "What plants do you have that attract bees?" at all garden shows and swaps.
4. I can never find any of my trowels. Should I buy more (only to lose them, too)?
5. I have a really hard time thinning seedlings. I feel for each of the tiny sprouts, like they're babies that I nurtured from embryonic.
6. I've been seriously considering planting a vegetable garden in my front yard, with the express purpose of being there for the many people who pass by to pick and eat things. Unfortunately, it's likely to just collect the trash they throw onto my lawn.
I'm not tagging anybody because... I'm just not. But if you read this, you can consider yourself tagged if you'd like to be. Let me know you've taken the survey, too!

Hi Rachel -
I read your post a while ago, and was waiting to see if anyone else made a comment. Are we all afraid that leaving one means we're tagged?
Well, I'll ignore that "tagged" part and just say that your random things were interesting, with your generous and tender nature showing itself in this post when you don't want to thin transplants and do want to make a "Help-yourself veggie garden".
One thing I can suggest - although they're not wonderful trowels, last year I bought a couple of really cheap, pointed, yellow handled, metal trowels from bins on the seasonal aisle at HEB. I jabbed them into the ground next to both front and back doors; the yellow band on the top of the handles was visible and I could find them, then poke them in as I went inside. They were still available a few weeks ago.
Sure hope Eduardo doesn't let us down!

Rachel - hope you're feeling better. I just realized your dog might be a little like our new doggie. I think she's part Catahoula - what's yours? I put some pictures of her on my blog, if you wanna take a peek. How's gardening going? I don't really know anyone who's out there in this miserable heat!
The vegetable garden in the front yard would be a marvelous idea. How about a 6-8" stake fence along the front row to help keep 'contributions' out? Maybe a couple cute signs would make things a little livelier and let them know it's there for enjoyment, too? I know of a guy in Albertville, AL who has a small change box on a stake for donations. I'm sure he doesn't make much, but it's encouragement for it.
