September 2002 Archives

This is Stella, formerly my cat, now my mom's. She's on a week-long visit to Austin, since my mom is travelling and she's recovering from intestinal surgery. Don't continue if you're squeamish about scars and wounds.

...when I got in the car and drove to work. Beautiful early-morning sunlight. I thought I'd share.

I've decided that some pictures are special because they capture a fleeting moment, one inimitable instant in time. Birds fly above these buildings all the time, but they will never look exactly as they do in this picture. The aesthetic imperfections can be forgiven in this regard.

I'm not the only one in the house who likes my new Doc Martens.

Another picture from Town Lake -- this one is the Lamar pedestrian bridge from below.

I snuck a picture by turning on the camera and snapping it while it hung from its cord around my neck. Very sneaky of me. I think the image itself looks a bit like a carnival or a carousel -- I love the effect of the lights.
Town Lake -- Austin, TX

Five swans swam close to shore for a while as we wandered along Town Lake. I ran ahead a few times so I could take their picture as they caught up to me. I took a bunch of pictures of them in various configurations -- they look so placid here.
(Fair warning: Many more pictures below. Slow connections be wary.)
