Elvis

Elvis the blonde squirrel (I don't think he's albino) lives on the Capitol grounds.

you're right, he's blond. at louisiana state u, there is a whole cadre of blond squirels living on campus. they're very cute, very cheeky, just like regular grey ones. i guess the gene mutation is common enough there that blond is normal. where i grew up, on the other hand, the mutation was for black hair. and for some reason, those were the only ones my dog could catch. maybe she could see them better because they didn't blend in to the background so well. she'd never hurt them - just catch and hold gently those squirming, angry little bodies in her soft labrador retriever mouth.... ah, thanks for the memories!
I remember seeing charcoal-grey squirrels in Europe and being shocked that such a common critter would be so different. I don't know why that was a surprise to me.
In India squirrels are smaller and have stripes of spots like chipmunks. What's even odder is that they sing like birds!
