oooooh,I love wisteria, and all of those other blooming plants we're seeing right now: azaleas, bluebonnets, etc.
Is this the same as Texas Mountain Laurel? The leaves and blossoms appear very similar. I jsut bought one for my backyard. It smells divine.

No, the Mountain Laurel is very different. Wisteria is a vine while Mountain Laurel is a shrub. The color and scent of the flowers do resemble one another, though. Personally I prefer Mountain Laurel because it's native and wisteria can be invasive -- there's an old wisteria out on 2222 somewhere that's nearly taken over an abandoned lot. Also, I think Mountain Laurel looks better than wisteria when they're not blooming.
