things to make my day
Sort of lost in the excitement of little Max yesterday is the fact that my diploma was brought to Austin and framed yesterday. My master's diploma. And this is a really groovy thing -- particularly since until my aunt asked me (hypothetically) whether if I had a diploma, I'd want it framed in a burnt-orange frame, I didn't actually know for -sure- that I had actually graduated. Apparently, I have, and the piece of paper to prove it arrived without incident in my mom's mail slot.
So in just a couple of weeks, I'll be in possession of my framed diploma illustrating my masters degree in advertising. As though I need the proof -- I already know I can "sell" a kitten with a sob-story. Ironically, my undergraduate diplomas (in Plan II Honors and Radio-Television-Film) were never framed, so they still sit in a cardboard envelope on my dresser in Corpus Christi.

I got my PhD diploma nicely framed ($170) right away. It hurt so damn much to get that stupid degree, I wanted to wave the bandage in the air for all to see.
My undergrad degree is in a $4.99 frame I bought at the grocery store. I had a lot of fun in college--don't need to lovingly memorialize the diploma.
