Busy Sunday
It's rare lately for me to have a really productive day on a weekend. Usually, I sort of veg around and don't get much done, but today, I was hardly home all day long.
I was sort of inspired to do some garage sale shopping. I've been looking for some new, inexpensive furniture for the new place -- a coffee table and a bookshelf, most urgently. The four garage/estate sales that I followed up on were a bust -- nothing I wanted at a price I was willing to pay -- so I went shopping in the West End, where I'd seen some signs announcing sales. I bought a couple of inexpensive things, then drove back up Lamar, deciding that I wanted some faux-Japanese food from Zen, near Northcross Mall.
I had some fake teriyaki, reminding myself that I'm not really that big a fan of teriyaki sauce, but I enjoyed their blackberry jasmine green tea, so I had a couple of glasses of that. Afterward, I stopped by an appliance shop to look at washers and dryers, not really intending to buy either just yet, but I became enamoured of a front-loading washer and wound up buying a set (on credit, of course -- it's the end of the month, and I don't have that kind of money lying around.)
Then I headed to campus and actually worked for a couple of hours on a problem that I wasn't able to fix on Friday. It was sort of bothering me, so I was glad to get it mostly finished up.
And then, on my way home, I saw another yard sale sign. One bookshelf, one dictionary, one thesaurus, one vegetarian cookbook, and one novel later, and eleven dollars later, I headed for home and unloaded the car, then got inside to find a message on my cell phone inviting me for dinner.
Then it was off to my aunt and uncle's house, where I took dozens of groovy pictures, which I'll now have to space out for a few days to be uploaded into my photolog.
And that, in a nutshell, was my day.
