disquieting dreams and washing machines
I had a somewhat lucid dream at about 5:45 this morning. I've forgotten most of it already, but I dreamt that someone was knocking at the door, knocking insistently, as though it were something very urgent.
It woke me up, in the silence of my room, but I couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps I'd heard it in real life and had incorporated it into my dream. Inertia got the better of me, and I stayed in bed, drifting back to sleep after I'd assured myself that the house wasn't on fire and no one was knocking. I kept asking myself, "Who would knock on my door before 6am?" My mom is usually the obvious guess, but she knows my phone number, so she could've called me.
I took the morning off to wait for the delivery guys to bring my new washer and dryer. It's just as well, as I overslept after my early-morning awakening. The washer and dryer finally got here around 11:15, and half an hour later, I started a load of laundry. I'm more or less completely out of clothes, so the timing was impeccable. Now I need to finish my laundry so that I can get back to work and fight fires all afternoon. I'm guessing that I'll be sticking around a bit late this evening, but I'm taking tomorrow off to go to Corpus Christi, so it's all worth it. Trips to Corpus Christi always create opportunities to post in the photolog.
Speaking of which, I uploaded an interesting and kind of artsy self-portrait late last night/early this morning. It's not blood, I promise -- just a shiny lip gloss that I used to decorate half my face to demonstrate "adornment," which was the "Theme Thursday" theme for this week.
Don't be alarmed. I was always the kid who got into my mother's makeup drawer and used up all the eye liner drawing random patterns on my face before I took a shower. I'm just documenting it.
