sunsets
I watched the sunset from my window, above the blanket of clouds high above the earth. The view was crystal-clear. The low-lying clouds hovering on the horizon gave the appearance of a glowing ember thrown from a fire, smouldering on the ground until it slowly burned itself out.
When the sun began to dip below the horizon, it did so very quickly, slipping away until there was nothing but a sliver left -- and then nothing at all but its reflection upon the clouds and a glimmer on the horizon.
I try to think of it as closure.
(Expect a more formal travel log, published in small chunks, starting tomorrow. I'll also work on posting my pictures then.)
