The Pied Piper of Hamelin

When, lo, as they reached the mountain-side,
A wondrous portal opened wide,
As if a cavern was suddenly hollowed;
And the Piper advanced and the children followed,
And when all were in to the very last,
The door in the mountain-side shut fast.

--The Pied Piper of Hamelin

I spent most of the week in Bloomington, Indiana, rather insulated from the news of the world. We returned late Wednesday night to find that autumn had overtaken Texas, and that madness was overtaking the world.

I'd prefer to keep my fingers in my ears like Catherine. I don't trust anything the President tells me, and I'm inclined not to believe the media machine that follows him whereever he goes. When did I become so cynical?

It's ironic that I've spent a decent amount of my life studying the "free media." I've always known that the press had the ability to misinform the masses, but I was never jaded enough to believe that it would happen. And maybe it hasn't -- I haven't heard a thing from anyone (politicians excluded) who supports war in Iraq -- not lately, at least -- and yet the entire country is being led by Bush into a war that, in my perception, anyway, has nothing to do with anything.

My fingers are in my ears, too, Catherine. I'm not following the piper.

Um, I think I'm already spoken for, and I'm probably not really your type anyway. ;)

OK, now that you've fixed that URL, my previous comment makes no sense. Ignore it, everyone.... :)
