Do you remember 3rd grade, when the Challenger was lost? I remember that it was raining, and that we had a substitute for Mrs. Wynn that day. And I also recall Miguel asking repeatedly why we were having a moment of silence, and why "they" let the shuttle explode. It was a weird moment that stands out in my life.

I think this is another of those moments where I will not forget where I was when I heard. I've spent the past 2 days putting pushpins on a map I created in MS Streets and Trips where the news had reported debris findings. The spread is amazing when viewed on a map. Shreveport and some of the other communites in LA where debris was found is so very un-central to the majority of the findings.

And I can't help my gut reaction of having wanted to jump in my truck and drive to the scene, to want to help to locate the remaining pieces. It was disheartening to know that I couldn't possibly help at all by doing so. We ended up staying home, glued to CNN, and guzzling each new piece of information that surfaced. Quite a distressing time that I know we will not soon forget.
