reviled women
What funny games bloggers weave.
I mentioned recently that the google search for "most reviled woman in America" returned only one hit at that time, in reference to Linda Tripp. A local weblogger, Chip Rosenthal, conducted his own little study, which indicated that Hillary Clinton was, in fact, the most reviled woman in America.
So I experimented again, using his criteria, and came up with another answer.
Suspecting that Chip might have the market cornered on reviled American women, I ran a series of experiments on the reviled women of the world, present and historical.
Among currently living women:
"Margaret Thatcher" reviled - 511 Google hits
"Monica Lewinsky" reviled - 503
"JK Rowling" reviled - 216
"Yoko Ono" reviled - 186
"Camilla Parker-Bowles" reviled - 53
"Imelda Marcos" reviled - 46
and from history:
"Mary Magdalene" reviled - 2,080 Google hits
"Cleopatra" reviled - 567
"Elizabeth I" reviled - 346
"Mary Queen of Scots" reviled - 124
"Catherine the Great" reviled - 69
"Eva Braun" reviled - 36
"Lucretia Borgia" reviled - 9
"Ma Ferguson" reviled - 3
Of course, only one of the currently living women is American: Monica Lewinsky, who beats Hillary Clinton by a, erm, head.
I should also mention that the first hit on Google for "reviled woman" currently points to my site. My parents should be proud, yes indeedy.

Are there any reviled men? Or does that adjective only get used for women?
"Reviled men" would be redundant.
CY - I actually investigated this matter--briefly. Or, at least, I did on a global scope.
The problem is I ran:
"Saddam Hussein" reviled
came up with a score of 2,810 and figured there wasn't much place else to go from there.
